Meet Dr. Salma Hussein

Dr. Salma Hussein, EdD, LICSW, is an educator, principal, mental health professional, community leader, and 2021 Bush Fellow. As one of the first Somali women to serve as a public school principal in Minnesota, she understands what it means to navigate multiple identities and systems while holding onto joy and purpose.

Her leadership is rooted in love, justice, and community. Whether she's greeting students at the door, coaching a leadership team, or speaking on stage, Dr. Salma centers relationships, storytelling, and healing. She believes that when we build systems rooted in dignity and belonging, everyone can thrive.
